Alan Adrian commenced his legal costing career with Law Costs. After nine years he founded our affiliate firm, Queensland Independent Costing Services (QICS) in 1989, initially employing two assessors and two typists.
Responsible for the business strategy, Alan has successfully grown the company from its humble beginnings in Queensland to now providing costing services nationally. As a result of his dedication to the legal costing industry Alan’s legal costing businesses are now some one of the most recognised providers in Australia employing seven costs lawyers, five costs consultants, and 12 support staff across five locations.
During Alan’s 40+ year tenure in the legal costing industry, he has attained a reputation as an esteemed and trusted professional. His area of expertise is guiding law firms in cost recovery that is compliant, transparent and effective.
Due to his attention-to-detail, management advice and counselling he is highly sought after by the Australian legal profession. As a highly regarded costs expert he is regularly called on to give evidence in court.
Alan loves to give back to the community and his passion for the legal costing industry has directed him to share his knowledge of law costs to the Bond University Law Faculty presenting on the Practical Legal Training course on a regular basis for over 10 years. He also jumps at the chance to present on legal costs for CLE presentations to law firms, the Queensland Law Society and local law associations.
Outside of the office Alan is happiest sharing a fulfilled life with his beautiful wife, four daughters and eight grandchildren and the company of good friends. When the opportunity arises he is an enthusiastic traveler and enjoys cheering on the horses.
